Event 1: Saturday SUP-Prize - Saturday 02 June
The first event of the Triple Crown series will kick off late on Saturday morning, to give those travelling from further afield plenty of time to arrive (or to visit the fabulous Kerikeri saturday market first).
As the title event implies - competitors are not going to know what they're getting until the briefing starts! As detailed here, the aim of the Triple Crown is to offer as wide a range of racing as possible, and also to make the most of the conditions on offer. So, the Saturday event might be a surf race, it might be a downwinder, or if there's no wind or surf, it might simply be a scenic race somewhere in the Bay of Islands.
Registration and briefing will take place at the Stone Store. And all will be revealed at the briefing!
Today's racing will be for the topflight and open fleets, and competitors should be capable of paddling at least 4km, in rougher water if necessary, and ideally with some prior race experience. There will be no junior-only races. (Experienced juniors will be welcome to compete, as a division of the open fleets.)
