The aim will be to achieve three very different races over the three days. However, weather and water conditions will of course play a large part in determining whether this is possible.

Flat Water Racing
This will happen for sure – there will be some sort of flat water race, probably in the 5-7km distance.  For the surfboard class or younger racers there will be a shorter option.

Short Course Racing
As it works so well in the Kerikeri Basin, we may well run a short course multi-lap race, with lots of corners, to really challenge your turning skills.  The distance will be set so that the race lasts around 25 minutes, and we’ll run it as different fleets, so everyone gets the chance to watch some racing as well as take part in it.

Downwind Racing
If the wind permits, then we’ll endeavour to run a downwinder, if it can be achieved safely. We have a great course for winds from the W or E on the Kerikeri Inlet, and another great option if the winds are from the NW or SE.

Technical/Surf Racing
If the conditions permit then we’ll run a technical race with multi laps in the surf.

Treasure Hunt Racing
Something a bit leftfield that we’re considering as a fun alternative if we don’t have the conditions for downwinding or surf racing, so that the event doesn’t just become 3 flat water races.
